When you are feeding raw, there is a guide line for how much you need to feed. Normally you feed 2-3% of the body weight a day for adult dogs.
Right, so do you think I measure and weigh EVERYTHING and EVERY TIME??? The answer is
I had measured first time I fed raw food and just got the sense of how much it would be. And afterwards, I rely on my hand and my everyday observation on how my dog looks like and of course, POOP CHECK!
When I heard this guideline, I fed her 2% of her body weight and she lost her weight as we walked a lot and she is very slim type. So now I feed her about 4% of her body weight and feed her twice a day and she looks perfect!
If you are the person who really enjoy weighing, that is one way, but sometimes number won't teach you what you really need to know. For me that is the sense that we have inside us. Great observation towards animals will guide us somewhere much farther than numbers. Then you can feed what your dog really needs.
So Scale or your hand??
