So do you know what this dried herb is? Do you think they are wood chippings? Nooo, it is one of my favourite food, burdock/Gobo. For me, it is a proper vegetable. I ate a lot when I was in Japan. I missed it so much when I moved in UK. Such a unique crunchy texture with full of flavour. So for me, this is a everyday vegetable. I realised this is recognised as a weed and not so many people know about it. Ohhh, what a waste! And then I noticed this is a used as a medicinal herb.
Burdock root is known as blood purifier and good at removing toxins from organs, especially from urinary functions. Keeping liver and kidney healthy is the key to boost immune system and also for healthy skin & coat.
It is better if you infuse the burdock root before hand, so that dogs can take the nutritions properly. I personally don't filter the herb, unless I have a good reason for it, as I believe it is a good source of fibre. My mom told me when I was small that burdock is a great cleaner in the stomach.
You can also enjoy burdock tea as it is very good for you(human) to cleanse your blood.
Bon a petite!
